After I turned off my netbook last night I noticed another nice little detail. Where the slightly arched ceiling over the aisle meets the bulkhead there are continuous up-lights that make the ceiling all glowy. When the cabin lights were turned off after dinner service the bulkhead lights switched to a deep blue. Tiny pin lights in the ceiling came on with the whole affect suggesting a starry night sky. As breakfast (and Baghdad) approached the lights cycled through the spectrum to a warm pink as the cabin lights became brighter.
Nice touch - I think my colleague Yakima would enjoy this airline :-)
(Not sure the drunken Russians noticed the subtlety.)
I am definitely ordering the veg meals on the return. Last night it was aloo methi and for breakfast, idli wada sambar. My eggs were unremarkable but I can hardly complain as I'm in a chair and I'm flying.
